A Face Lift is a procedure to tighten the skin on the face and neck. Face Lifts range in size from "mini" to "standard" depending on the location and the amount of skin sagging and wrinkling...
A smoother looking face and neck, removal of jowls and deep creases between the base of the nose and the mouth. An overall younger appearance by making the face and neck look less wrinkled and tired.
Will it hurt?
Face Lifts are done under a general anesthesia, so there is no pain during the procedure. Pain or discomfort after the surgery is controlled with medication
How is it done?
An incision is made within the hair line, or along the hair margin, above the ear and extending down around the ear lobe and ending below the hairline behind the ear. Neck muscles and facial skin are tightened, and the excess skin is removed. Stitches secure the layers of tissue and close the incisions.
Will it leave a scar?
The incision is done above the hair line so any scarring will not be visible.
Will I have to take time off of work or from my normal daily routine?
Stitches are removed within two weeks, and bruising and swelling will be reduced to "socially acceptable levels" within two weeks. A surgical garment is usually worn for 1-2 weeks. The final result is evident within 4-6 weeks with continued improvement occurring over several months.
Are there any risks?
Wider scar behind the ear - Because the scar is behind the ear it's not noticeable.
Temporary numbness - This is rare and usually resolves in a few months.
Hematoma - This is rare and requires drainage when it does occur.
A Face Lift can't stop the aging process. What it can do is "set back the clock," improving the most visible signs of aging by removing excess fat, tightening underlying muscles, and re-draping the skin of the face and neck. The face will continue to age with time, however the effects of a Face Lift are long lasting.
The best candidate for a Face Lift is someone who’s face and neck have begun to sag, but whose skin still has some elasticity and whose bone structure is strong and well-defined.
A Face Lift can be done in conjunction with other procedures such as a foreheadLift, eyelid surgery, or nose reshaping. A Face Lift usually takes several hours. At the beginning, the face may feel rather strange. These conditions will be corrected over the course of a few weeks. Features may be distorted from the swelling, and facial movements may be slightly stiff.
