Male Breast Reduction

>Male breast reduction is a procedure to remove excess breast tissue or fat using liposuction or by excising tissue.

Expected results.

Results of this procedure are a flatter, more proportioned chest.

Will it hurt?

This procedure is performed under a general anesthetic. Pain is minimal.

Will it leave a scar?

Scars are very small and placed in the breast fold or around the areola. Scars are not noticeable once they’ve healed.

Will I have to take time off of work or from my normal daily routine?

Work or normal activities can be resumed in 1 week. Bruising and swelling subsides in 2 weeks, and the patient wears a compression garment covering the treated areas for 6 weeks. The garment helps reduce swelling.

Are there any risks?

Fluid Collection – This rarely occurs. If a large collection of fluid forms then this may require some drainage.

Asymmetry – Most often, the two sides are not perfectly symmetrical before surgery. Great care is taken to make the sides as symmetrical as possible.

How is it done?

A small hollow tube is inserted through small tiny incisions near the area to be suctioned. It is sometimes necessary to remove breast tissue through an incision around the lower half of the areola perimeter.
