Dear Clients of Brampton Cosmetic Surgery Center & Medical Spa,
As many of you know, I am the newest member of the Brampton Cosmetic team in the role of a Registered Nurse. I have already met some of you, and I look forward to meeting those whom I haven’t.
I understand that many of you have been clients of Michele’s for many years, and you may have some initial hesitation about trusting your face with someone else. Michele has been kind enough to pass down some of her knowledge to me and has been hands-on with my training to ensure that I can provide the level service that you have all come to expect. I have also spent time training with representative trainers for all the procedures and products we provide for you at the clinic to make sure I am fully up to date with all recent standards.
I’d like to tell you all a little bit about myself and how I got into this industry. To start off, I’m 25 years old, born and raised in Calgary, Alberta. I grew up in an East Indian household, both my parents being from Punjab, a state in India. My childhood and teenage years were spent playing competitive basketball, which didn’t leave me with much time to think or care about my skin. This changed when I became a teenager, though, and had to deal with skin issues including severe Eczema, acne, and hyperpigmentation. When I was 15 my parents took me to a cosmetic clinic to get a treatment done for my extremely dry skin. I went back each week for a month and had my skin looked after by the same lovely member of their staff. As I got to know her, I began to ask her more about herself—how she got into the clinic and what her role was—and she told me she was a Registered Nurse. This surprised me! I didn’t know that nurses worked in these types of environments. I always planned on being a nurse once I graduated from high school, but this experience sparked a new interest and sent me down a path that my ten-year-old basketball-playing self couldn’t have predicted.
In my senior year of high school, I developed an obsession for YouTube makeup tutorials. I started to practice on myself and friends to recreate what I was watching. I later met a manager from MAC Cosmetics who was impressed with my artistry skills and offered me a job. From there, I worked for MAC, NARS, Giorgio Armani, and Yves Saint Laurent. I also landed a job with one of the biggest Indian bridal companies and was flown out to Mexico, Florida, and California for bridal clients. This experience as a makeup artist allowed me to understand not only facial aesthetics, but the true importance of skin health.
I graduated from the University of Calgary with my Bachelor of Nursing in April 2015. I began working in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, where I was able to develop my skills as a medical professional and participate in some intense situations. Although I loved my time in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, I always wanted to pursue aesthetic nursing. I was having a hard time navigating the industry in Calgary, however, and couldn’t find the right door to open. I decided to make what I thought would be a temporary move to Ontario to complete my course as a Medical Esthetic Practitioner Nurse at Centennial College, which I did in June 2017. Ontario and I seemed to get along, though. After the course was done, I decided I would email my resume to a handful of clinics in the GTA. One of my chosen few was Brampton Cosmetic. I was welcomed for an interview by Stephanie and had a great conversation with her about my goals as well as the clinic’s goals. It turned out to be a perfect fit, and I decided to make the official move. With my wedding coming up in 2018 I had to convince my fiancé to move as well, and thankfully he agreed!
For the last two months, I have spent extensive time training and educating myself in this role. It’s my intention to provide the absolute best service I can while educating all of my clients on the importance of overall skin health. My goal is to provide a genuine perspective on the treatments and products you may need, and I hope my authenticity forges an open and trusting relationship between us. Many of you may also see me assisting Dr. Sleightholm. As a Registered Nurse, I am able and excited to practice in both the non-surgical and surgical sides of the clinic.
If you’d like to get in touch with me about questions or concerns, please email me anytime at firstname.lastname@example.org or book a complimentary consultation. For those of you who have already met me, thank you for your kindness and patience as I transition into this role.
Thank you for your time,
Navi Brar, RN BN MEPN
