Lip Injections and Fillers

Lip injections can be used to add volume to the lips, accentuating them and helping to create a beautiful smile.

The lip fillers we use for your lips are made with hyaluronic acid, a substance found in your body that helps your skin to retain moisture. Unfortunately, naturally occurring hyaluronic acid disappears as you age and due to prolonged exposure to sunlight, which contributes to the development of wrinkles and volume loss.

Lip Fillers Available at Brampton Cosmetic

We offer two types of lip injections and fillers. Reach out to learn more about the types available and book a consultation to discuss your desired results and which type of filler would work best for you.

The results, which are frequently achieved through a single treatment, can last for up to one year. Your skin’s natural tone and condition will affect this, as will lifestyle factors like whether or not you smoke. You might need subsequent touch-ups to ensure you maintain your desired outcome.

How Do I Choose the Right Lip Filler?

Ultimately, the best way to determine which type of filler will be right for you is to talk to an experienced medical professional.

During your consultation at the Brampton Cosmetic Surgery Center and Medical Spa, an Injection Specialist will speak with you about what you would like to achieve and any specific skin-related concerns you may have. They will then be able to recommend the filler that is best suited to address your needs and give you full, luscious lips.

Frequently Asked Questions about Lip Fillers

How are lip injections done?

An experienced injection specialist oversees lip filler treatments to ensure your safety and comfort. The injections are given after treatment areas are cleansed. The procedure is done as patients lay on an exam table in a slightly raised position or sit upright.

The length of each procedure depends on the patient’s desired outcomes and the condition of treatment areas.

Will receiving the injection hurt?

Because your lips are more sensitive, it is normal to feel some pain (typically a pinching sensation) as the needle enters you skin. Our injection specialists will apply a topical numbing cream to the treatment areas in advance, and all the dermal fillers we use contain lidocaine, a medication used to numb the tissue.

Should you feel any excessive pain, tell the injection specialist.

Are there risks associated with lip injections and fillers?

Lip injections can cause some minor side effects including swelling, itchiness, bruising, and mild pain. Conditions should subside within the first two weeks (often within the first few days).

If symptoms worsen, contact us.

When can I return to work and begin normal activities?

We recommend avoiding strenuous activities, not sleeping on the injection site, and advise you to rest with the head elevated immediately after the procedure.

Overall, dermal injections don’t require much downtime. We encourage you to return to work and daily activities once symptoms subside.

Can I receive lip injections if I am prone to or have cold sores?

If you suffer from the herpes simplex virus (cold sores), please make sure you advise us. We will ask you about this prior to your treatment and on your health questionnaire.

In most cases we would advise against receiving lip injections if you have active cold sores, as that can cause the rashes to spread. If the virus has been dormant for some time, we still require that you take any medication that has been prescribed both before and after any treatment sessions to reduce the risk of reactivating it. Brampton Cosmetic can provide you with a prescription for an antiviral medication if required.
