Facial Injections and Fillers
Facial injections (sometimes called dermal fillers, non-surgical facelifts, or liquid facelifts) are used to rejuvenate the look of your skin by addressing a range of needs including:
- Adding volume and fullness to target areas.
- Softening lines, creases, folds, and wrinkles.
- Enhancing the natural contours of your face.
- Improving visual symmetries.
The dermal fillers Brampton Cosmetic uses for your face are all made with hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance already found in your body’s skin, muscles, and tendons. It plays a critical role in helping your skin retain moisture, though unfortunately it gradually disappears as you age and due to prolonged exposure to sunlight. Wrinkles and facial folds develop as a result, causing your skin to lose its youthful appearance and glow.
Facial Fillers Available at Brampton Cosmetic
We offer three types of facial injections and fillers at our clinic—Juvederm™, Restylane™ and Perlane™, and Teosyal™.
Juvederm—one of our most popular dermal fillers—turns hyaluronic acid from an acid into a gel, helping it last much longer upon injection.
Juvederm injections can be used to effectively treat your entire face by:
- Enhancing lips.
- Softening facial wrinkles.
- Adding volume to the chin and cheeks.
- Accentuating jaw contour.
The results, which are usually achieved with one treatment session, are proven to last up to a year depending on the areas treated and lifestyle factors such as smoking. Subsequent touch ups may be needed to achieve or maintain your desired outcome.
Restylane and Perlane
Restylane and Perlane are made from naturally-derived hyaluronic acid and are used to soften facial lines, restore fullness, and add volumes to the lips and cheeks. Restylane and Perlane injections typically last from six months to a year.
Teosyal’s complete range of dermal fillers is made with non-animal origin, biodegradable hyaluronic acid. Depending on your needs, they can be used to:
- Correct fine lines and wrinkles (superficial, moderate, and severe)
- Rehydrate your skin.
- Restore fullness in both targeted and wide areas.
- Add volume to enhance your lips.
- Soften under-eye circles.
The Teosyal® Pen, the world’s first cordless and motorized dermal filler injection system, reduces pain and intensity for patients by up to 50%.
The Teosyal® Pen works by automatically and slowly releasing filler at a pre-determined, consistent speed to maximize patient comfort. Your cosmetic surgeon will choose the mode and speed—ranging from flow to drop, slow to fast, and small to large—based on the objectives of your treatment. In most cases, going slowly produces the best, most natural results and keeps patients at ease.
How Do I Choose the Right Facial Filler?
The best way to determine the type of dermal filler that will be right for you is to speak to a trained, experienced medical professional.
During your consultation at the Brampton Cosmetic Surgery Center and Medical Spa, an Injection Specialist will speak with you about what you would like to achieve and any specific skin concerns you may have. With that information, they will be able to recommend the dermal filler that is best suited to address your needs and give you glowing, rejuvenated skin.
Frequently Asked Questions about Facial Fillers
An experienced injection specialist oversees filler treatments to ensure your safety and comfort. Similar to Botox, the injections are given after treatment areas are cleansed. The procedure is done as patients lay on an exam table in a slightly raised position or sit upright.
The length of each procedure depends on the patient’s desired outcomes and the condition of treatment areas.
Your face is sensitive, which is why it is normal to feel slight pain (typically a pinching sensation) the first time the needle enters you skin. Our injection specialists can apply a topical numbing cream to reduce discomfort. All the dermal fillers we use also contain lidocaine, a medication used to numb the tissue and make the overall procedure more comfortable.
Should you feel any excessive pain, tell the injection specialist.
Facial injections can cause some minor side effects including swelling, itchiness, bruising, and mild pain. Conditions should subside within the first two weeks (often within the first few days).
If symptoms worsen, contact us.
We recommend avoiding strenuous activities, not sleeping on the injection site, and advise you to rest with the head elevated immediately after the procedure.
Overall, dermal injections don’t require much downtime. We encourage you to return to work and daily activities once symptoms subside.
If you suffer from the herpes simplex virus (cold sores), please make sure you advise us. We will ask you about this prior to your treatment and on your health questionnaire.
In most cases we would advise against receiving lip injections if you have active cold sores, as that can cause the rashes to spread. If the virus has been dormant for some time, we still require that you take any medication that has been prescribed both before and after any treatment sessions to reduce the risk of reactivating it. Brampton Cosmetic can provide you with a prescription for an antiviral medication if required.
