Local Liposuction

Local Liposuction in Brampton

Liposuction is a minor surgical procedure that removes small amounts of fat from specific areas of the body through suction. This procedure is done under local anesthesia in office while larger areas will be done under general anesthetic. Liposuction can help to reduce small, localized fat accumulation (under 1000ml). Local Liposuction will only be done of patients we approve to tolerate this type of procedure.

It is important to note that liposuction is not a weight loss treatment and cannot address excess, loose skin concerns. Liposuction simply removes unwanted fat pockets that create an unwanted shape in order to contour the body.

The ideal candidate for Local Liposuction Patients with small, localized areas of fat accumulation are the ideal candidates for local liposuction. This procedure is not a replacement for weight loss and is not ideal for those who are considered overweight. Liposuction will not address stretch marks or cellulite. The ideal candidate for liposuction will be someone who is generally healthy with an overall stable body weight, but wants to remove accumulated, excess fat in a specific location on the body. The best results are seen in those with elastic skin that will mold to the new contours of the body. The Treatment Process

During a Liposuction procedure, a 5mm incision is made close to the localized area of fat to be reduced. The tumescent solution is infiltrated into the fat and the fat is aspirated under suction through a cannula tube. This tube is moved through the area, breaking up the fat cells and suctioning them out. The surgical team will monitor you and your vital signs including heart rate, blood pressure and blood oxygen levels, throughout the process. It can take several hours to complete the procedure, depending on the amount of fat being removed. If general anesthesia was required, you may need to wait several hours after the procedure in a recovery room so you can be monitored.

After the procedure, you can expect some minor swelling, pain and bruising which typically diminishes after a couple of weeks. You may need to temporarily wear drains for fluid draining and compression clothing to reduce swelling. You’ll also need to wait several weeks until you are healed before returning to regular activities and exercise. It may take some time for the body contours to take shape and a leaner appearance to form, but after several weeks you should start to see your desired results.
