PRP Injection Therapy

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) injections use your own blood platelets to stimulate collagen production, cell renewal, and tissue regeneration—improving your skin’s tone, texture, and quality. Sometimes known as the “Vampire Facial”, PRP injection therapy has long been used by orthopedic doctors and reconstructive surgeons to encourage more rapid healing without the need for surgery. Now, we’re realizing the amazing effects this same treatment can have when it comes to things like cosmetic facial rejuvenation and hair loss.

PRP injection treatments can be performed on your face, neckline, scalp, and hands and are ideal for:

  • Mature or aging skin
  • Hair loss (alopecia) and thinning hair (hereditary and non-hereditary)
  • Scarring
  • Chronic wounds

Industry Leading Technology & Products

At Brampton Cosmetic Surgery Center & Medical Spa, we use industry-leading technology and products that, along with our well-educated and trained technicians, provide our clients with optimal and sought-after results.

Our state-of-the-art Clarion V2 injector gun enables us to deliver Beauty Booster hyaluronic acid and platelet-rich plasma with precision. We control the amount and depth of the needles that we use, so we can perform PRP therapy on difficult areas to treat, such as the neck, as well as commonly treated areas such as the face, hands, and hair. The efficiency with which the Clarion injector operates allows us to deliver more valuable platelet-rich plasma to our clients comfortably, with minimal withdrawing of blood and injections.

Before/During/After – PRP Treatment Results

The results PRP injections can deliver are backed by decades of scientific research. More than 30 years ago, scientists documented and studied how PRP was able to grow new collagen when injected into the skin. Researchers have since demonstrated that PRP can effectively address age-related issues like sun damage, and PRP has been clinically shown to safely, effectively, and naturally treat hair loss for both men and women.

After your PRP treatment, you will begin to see your skin rapidly heal within a few days. See each step of the process in the gallery below and the incredible healing process that occurs in just over 24 hours. This stimulating treatment will help your skin look refreshed, youthful, and revitalized.

Reverse the Effects of Hair Loss

Today, PRP injection therapy is giving men and women coping with hair loss a new and better alternative for treatment.

PRP uses a growth factor found naturally in your platelets to stimulate blood supply to both active and dormant hair follicles, increasing hair diameter and thickness. PRP has been clinically proven to deliver better results than minoxidil, one of the most widely used medications for hair loss, without the associated side effects like dizziness and drowsiness.

Non-Surgical Procedures That Can Complement PRP Injection Treatments

Microneedling Dermal Fillers Laser Skin Treatments
Microneedling works by using tiny needles to penetrate your skin, encouraging collagen production and cell renewal without causing too much damage or discomfort. Microneedling treatments are typically completed quickly (in under half an hour), and patients experience minimal downtime afterwards.

Facial injections are used to revitalize and rejuvenate your skin. The dermal fillers Brampton Cosmetic uses are all made with hyaluronic acid, a substance already found in your body’s skin, muscles, and tendons. Unfortunately, it gradually disappears as you age and due to prolonged exposure to sunlight. Wrinkles and facial folds develop as a result, causing your skin to lose its youthful appearance.

Whatever your skincare needs – whether you want to correct damaged skin, reverse signs of aging or sun damage, or improve the appearance of scars caused by conditions like acne – laser skin treatments can help you restore your skin’s vibrancy and glow.

Frequently Asked Questions about PRP Injection Treatments

How long do PRP injection treatments take?

In total, you can expect to spend just under two hours with us. The treatment itself takes approximately one hour, but we will apply a topical anesthetic for 45 minutes beforehand.

How do I need to prepare for my PRP injection treatment?

If you are not accustomed to drinking plenty of water (eight glasses per day), we ask patients to stay extra hydrated one week prior to coming in. Additionally, please avoid Advil, wine, and anything else that might thin the blood. We need high platelet levels in order to deliver optimal results.

Where does the blood come from?

Our nurse will take a small sample of blood from the arm (just like getting routine bloodwork done at the lab).

Will I require pain relief?

All patients are given a topical anesthetic, which we will apply prior to your treatment.

When can I return to work and begin normal activities?

You will have multiple “blips” (small mosquito bite-like bumps) on your face for the first day and may experience redness and mild to moderate swelling depending on the area treated. You will need to refrain from wearing any makeup for the first 24 hours following your treatment.

How long do the results last?

Results will vary from patient to patient depending on lifestyle and the severity of the condition treated. Once the initial three treatments are completed, patients should do one treatment 1-2 times a year in order to maintain results over the long term.

Can PRP injection treatments be combined with any other facial treatments?

Yes, and in fact combination treatments (with microneedling/Beauty Boosterfacial fillerslaser skin treatments, and skincare products for example) often offer the best results!

Can I receive PRP injection treatments if I am prone to or have cold sores?

If you suffer from the herpes simplex virus (cold sores), please make sure you advise us. We will ask you about this prior to your treatment and on your health questionnaire.

In most cases we would advise against receiving PRP treatments if you have active cold sores, as that can cause the rashes to spread. If the virus has been dormant for some time, we still require that you take any medication that has been prescribed both before and after any treatment sessions to reduce the risk of reactivating it. Brampton Cosmetic can provide you with a prescription for an antiviral medication if required.
