What You Need to Know about Scar Treatment or Removal

Scars can occur for several reasons, including trauma or injury, burns, and surgery. While scars are permanent, they do tend to improve over time. However, everyone heals differently from surgery or injury, and some scars can be stubborn and require treatment to be less visible.

It is important for patients to be aware that another scar is created in order to treat the original scar. However, the appearance of the scar that results from our treatment is significantly lesser than that of the original, and the appearance is drastically improved in most cases.

The Treatment Process

An initial assessment and consultation are required to determine the proper and optimal treatment. Scars can be treated through:

  • Surgical incision
  • ProFractional laser
  • Microneedling

If surgical incision was the procedure used, sutures will be removed after 1 week.
